The WebMail interface has several functions. With it, you and your users can access your email accounts from any location with an Internet connection and a standard web browser*.

You, as administrator, can also add, remove, and edit the userbase for your Virtual Domain, including complete password control, forwarding, and holiday messages.

To access the Webmail system for your domain, type the following into your browser's location bar:

http://www.yourdomain.com:8383*
Where yourdomain.com is the fully qualified domain name of your site. Use the "webmaster" username and the appropriate password.

Clients on the Standard hosting plan, or higher, may customize the look of the WebMail interface somewhat. This is accomplished by replacing the standard logo, located at "http://www.yourdomain.com/images/webmail.gif", with one of your own choosing.

This feature relies on JavaScript, so some users won't see the logo or home button. This applies only to users of ancient browsers, or those who have purposely disabled JavaScript on their browser. This is a very small minority of users.

*NOTES:

  • Internet Explorer REQUIRES you to type in the "http://" when using any port other than 80 (in this case, we're using 8383).
  • This is not a complete email client like Outlook Express or Pegasus Mail, but is adequite for many looking for a simpler interface.
  • If you are behind a corporate firewall, or are using some sort of personal firewall software, you may have to configure it to allow access to port 8383. See your Network Administrator for more information.
